2022 Request for Proposals now open

Proposals should focus on one of three areas: Brain Science, Data Science, Reproductive Health

The Joint Institute partnership is pleased to announce the latest round of funding opportunities to support collaborative research between Michigan Medicine and Peking University Health Science Center.

The application window opens May 12, with Letters of Intent due June 13.

The JI is transitioning away from discipline-based programs toward broader, multi-disciplinary research themes. This 2022 Request for Proposals focuses on Data Science, Reproductive Health and Brain Science. (Cancer, a fourth priority area identified for future JI collaborations, has a separate funding mechanism.) Applications from health science disciplines outside the medical school are welcome with a cost-sharing expectation.

Nearly 70 joint research projects have been supported to date through the JI, and Michigan Medicine faculty have garnered $35 million in extramural funding on the basis of work begun through the collaboration with PKUHSC. Following the Letters of Intent, full proposals for the 2022 awards cycle will be due this summer, with announcements expected near the end of the year.
